Wolf Moon

The biggest, brightest full moon of the year happens tonight. Tonight’s full moon also happens to be the first of the year which is called the wolf moon by Native Americans. The wolf moon is 14% wider and 30% brighter and tonight it had a beautiful halo around it.

  1. Beaaaaaaaauuuutiful shot. Its interesting to hear where the Wolf Moon name comes from. So if you'll excuse me now, I have this urge to go and run around the backyard on all fours.

  2. Hey, we saw it rise here in Gloucester also! It came on a crisp, cold night and had some pink clouds 'round it. I didn't know it was the Wolf Moon.

  3. Excellent shot! I've never heard of a wolf moon, thanks for enlightening me.

I'd venture out for a shot, but it'd cloudy and the wind chill is in the single digits :-(

If you can reduce the exposure on your camera by 1/3 or 1/2 stop, it might enhance the halo.
