The Pantheon is one of my favorite places in Rome. It was originally built by Agippa in the first century BC but was destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 118-125 AD. The most facinating thing is how incredibly light it is inside, yet there aren't any lights...just the opening at the top of the dome letting sunlight flood inside. It's beautiful and awesome. The floor has drains because when it rains, it just pours in and drains across the floor. Genius...Monday, December 8, 2008
